Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It's Off To Tahoe We Go
Thursday, June 25, 2009

Tahoe was the next stop.

We took a day trip to Virginia City, a tourist trap of a Wild West Town.

The girls were their father's pride and joy at the Shoot Em Up shooting range....

Posing afterwards, Charlie's Angels style...

The girls panned for gold with Bear, here. He told me he'd been lucky. Before he got into the business of helping sucker tourists pan for microscopic slivers of gold, he'd only been stabbed twice. I was dying to ask him about the three tear drops under his eye which we all know what tear tats mean, but I wasn't sure if he would consider that an invasion of his privacy.

We stopped to quench our parched throats, with my sister Jean, who joined us for this part of the trip.

And because of our beer break, we missed the last Wild West shootout of the day.

The girls, like their father, are very creative in finding a way around things.

We spent the next few days in Tahoe, beautiful, crystalline Lake Tahoe....

Where we took in the spectacular sights...

Hiked the trails...

Of course, some of us had our big, fake purse and makeup with us. You never know who you might run into on a deserted hiking trail....

We were together. A family vacation before our girl flies away....

And oh, how these two, sisters so different in every way, will miss each other...

We saw sights strange to us, but obviously very common to this town.
Carved bears riding in the back of pickup trucks were as plentiful as the casinos encircling this mountain town.

We took more creepy nature pictures, including Aunt Jean in our new hobby....

In short, fun was had by all in Tahoe....

Well.... that's right. Except for, you guessed it....

Today's Have to Have Download: The ethereal Eva Cassidy singing, Sting's "Fields of Gold." If you haven't listened to Eva, you are cheating yourself out of one of the greatest voices of all time. Eva passed away as her star just began to shine. She died of melanoma in her early 30's. Get your skin checked. Don't put it off.

"I swear in the days still left, we will walk in fields of gold."

And how we did.
