I had a pretty tough day yesterday.

I'm not going to go into any details at this time. I will say everything is fine now, but for a terrible moment in time yesterday, I thought my happy, little world as I know it, had come to an end.

Let me just reiterate, everything is fine. Everyone here is fine. But, certain children of mine took
a couple years off my life yesterday.

And even after the crisis had ended, I was emotionally bruised all day. I had no strength for
anything.

It wasn't until later in the evening, that I ventured over to my beloved blogworld. I hadn't been able
to look at a single blog all day, which made the day even worse because I love my blogs. The
people I choose to read are some of the most talented, funny, amazing writers out there and I feel so
fortunate to have them in my life.

And to make it even worse, Jen at Redhead Ranting had so graciously made me the star of her blog yesterday and I didn't even get the chance to enjoy it. Insert a big whine. If you want to check out
my sordid past, you can visit Jen, right here.

So as I sat down to my computer I noticed I had a cache full of comments waiting for me, little
starry pockets of love that always brighten my day.

They were all wonderful and warmed my heart, the perfect medicine for my fragile spirit.

The last one was from one of my favorite bloggers and at the end of his gracious comment, he told
me to go check out his blog because I would appreciate it, being the "rocker chick" that I am.

Cheeseboy never talks about his own blog when he's visiting me at my site. So, I knew this would
be better than his average brilliance.

I immediately tore over to his blog, The Blog O' Cheese, and I don't know of a word that
elevates brilliance to a higher plane.

It was brilliant plus, plus, plus.

Cheeseboy is a first grade teacher. And first grade teachers always have the overwhelming chore of putting together the end of the year musical program.

I'm pretty sure in Hell the top 3 job assignments are coal mine worker, port-a-let cleaner and director
of first grade musical programs. Not necessarily in that order.

And in perfect Cheeseboy brilliance, these kids were not up there singing about little teapots and
dogs named Bingo.

These 6-year-olds were the School of Rock with Cheeseboy/Jack Black at their helm.

Cheeseboy took the legendary rock opus "Bohemian Rhapsody" and rewrote the lyrics, turning
into a rock anthem for first graders everywhere.

Here's just a tiny taste of Cheeseboy's brilliance:

My mom brings me in a minivan
Give her smooch
And a smooch
Then I see the van van go

Monkey bars and lunchtime
Very, very frightening....

You MUST go over there to see the rest.

The first graders also do a fabulous rendition of The Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go"
complete with a perfect Joe Strummer, "Whoooo!"

Man, how I wish Cheeseboy had been my first grade teacher.

So, head on over to Cheeseboy's, Blog O' Cheese today and get ready to experience a phenomenal
treat.

He made my heavy heart, beam again and for that I am completely grateful.

Rock on Cheeseboy, with your bad self. Keep on, keepin' on. You ARE the Jack Black of the
blog world.

Today's Definite Download:

Of course, Queen's, "Bohemian Rhapsody." It was a sad day the day we lost Freddie Mercury to
the vile ravages of Aids. He was a talent like no other with his operatic voice and the gorgeous
layers of harmony that made up Queen. Their songs are just spectacular in their magnitude and it
makes me sad that we lost an amazing voice to a disease that far too many were silent about for too
long. So many lives could have been saved as warning cries were ignored and even muffled.

But, that is a story for another day.

For today, Bohemian Rhapsody, for Cheeseboy. The world needs more teachers like you, Dude.

Is this the real life?
Is it just fantasy
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see....

Is it a coincidence that I added the Queen station to Pandora on my Blackberry yesterday? I think not!

I will head over to Cheeseboy now. I have given up all dairy except skim milk and yogurt so he sounds quite delish.

Hope you are back to your sparkling self today honey. Your humor is like no other.

My, my, my Joann. And your blog was a favorite of mine BEFORE.

You are far too kind. I should give you a blog award for "taking names and kicking a$$". (Actually, that would be a very cool name for an award. I wish I could make awards.)

When I came to my school this year, every grade had been singing the same boring songs for years and years. Nobody knew why they even sang the songs they did anymore. They were the old traditionals, and they were boring.

I was like "screw that!" and we did a couple songs like that for the Christmas concert. The parents ate it up. They cheered for like 6 minutes straight when we were done.

So this program we went all out. I got the other teachers on board and we did all rock songs. The most important thing is to get buy in from the kids. They HAVE to be into it. If they just stand straight and sing "should I stay or should I go", it's still kinda boring. But if they are rocking, it becomes interesting.

The video is of the other students watching the program and I think they were kinda shocked by it all. They loved it though. When we were done, all the older grades were giving our first graders high fives and telling them how they wish they could rock like that.

Th parent program was later that afternoon and they went absolutely nuts for it all. You should have heard the cheers when we were done.

We did a few other fun songs like Yackity Yack and one where the teachers are dancing around onstage behind them that I might post later.

Hi Joann,

I am so sorry you had a terrible day yesterday. I'm glad everyone else is fine, but I'm sad that you remained bruised the rest of the evening. After reading your friend's blog and starting a new day, I hope everything is much better with you.

I'm sorry that you had a rough day yesterday, but am glad that everything is much better now.

As for your post, yes, cheeseboy's post yesterday "rocked" in more ways then one. I had it blasting on the speakers so hubby could hear it. Wish I had a teacher like him when I was in the 1st grade.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Joann - I really hope everything is now sorted out and your bad day is behind you. I have just read the post your friend Jen showcased and am amazed you survived childhood! I have been a Queen fan and have loved Freddie Mercury since I was 12, seeing them in concert before they became famous and being able to stand at the stage was one of the best nights of my life. So I had to go and check out what your friend had done with Bohemian Rhapsody and it was wonderful, so thank you for that also.

I loved his post, too!

The video was awesome, wasn't it? All those precious children just loving what they were doing...

I'm glad things are better and will pray to the goddess of teenagers that all stays smooth for a while for you. As a mother of 2teen girls I have had a few days like that recently and part of me wants to spill it all in my blog in hopes that someone smart out there has the answer for me. But I bite my tongue for my family's privacy sake and because I don't want my blog to sound like a Jerry Springer show.
Anyhoo there's always a new day a few hours away. Now off to check out Cheeseboy!

Eeek! Sorry you had a rough time. And sorry I'm late in commenting, but I think I may have just coughed a lung onto my desk. I'm very glad everything is all right, although it would've been better had nothing happened to worry about in the first place!

I HATE it when things happen at school that you can't control... children take everything out of you - they can cause you to never sleep again, to get ulcers and headaches. I hope everything will return back to normal QUICKLY!

Oh. Those. Kids. I am SO glad everything is OK now!!!!

I saw Cheeseboy's post yesterday and loved it.

Glad you are back, Darling.
